Firstly, a sincere thank you from The Coast to y’all for your continued support for our music. We hope you are enjoying “Welcome To…” and will enjoy the upcoming string of EPs.
A little about this project for those of you not in the know… or the country. After the successful release and subsequent tour in support of “Welcome To…” we moved our home base from New York to Texas. After unpacking many boxes we began working our hardest to craft a follow up that was worthy of our love and at least your attention. To that end, we wrote, rehearsed, played shows, added members, lost members, added more members- and did it all again in reverse. Twice. Alas, sometimes life gets in the way of what one loves. After battling scheduling mishaps, car accidents, otherworldly visits and Jersey Shore worthy drama, The Coast decided to stay true to its roots and rely only on those who we know best; namely, ourselves.
As a result of our protracted silence and ensuing restlessness we have decided to undertake a project of prodigious proportions. A monumental mission, a truly towering task if you will: The Coast of Nebraska will release an EP every month, for the next 12 months.
Obviously the path we have mapped out will be grueling and even grievous, but the Coast is a place that requires dedication and exploration to uncover its treasures. We have the incredible challenge of not only writing three to four songs a month, but, rehearsing, recording, mixing and mastering them. Throw into that hand drawn album art and you’ve got some serious sh*t! Did I mention we’re doing all this ourselves?!
This little letter is to let you know about the first EP in this series entitled “Dark Signals” which will be available October 1st 2011 from our Bandcamp site. Comprised of 3 songs which we wrote during those glorious months when we first moved to Austin and knew absolutely no one. We spent our days going out to see shows, writing music, running into the occasional rock star and sleeping in. Then we got jobs…
